For over 60 years, the Cairo Chamber of Commerce has been a presence in the Town of Cairo. It has seen many businesses come and go over the years, and it has always been there to support and promote local businesses, as well as the Cairo Community at large.
For Business owners, the Chamber has been involved with such projects as The Greene County Main Street Revitalization Project, and has maintained a membership in the United States Federation of Small Business in order for its members to be eligible for the many benefits the USFSB has to offer..
Being a Chamber of Commerce is always challenging, never boring. As a Not-For-Profit organization, it does depend largely, if not entirely on the income it receives from Membership Dues, Sponsors, Grants, and events that it holds throughout the year.. Many fail to realize that events run by the Chamber are its way of fundraising, BUT.. at the same time, are providing the Cairo Community with many wonderful events that the entire town can be proud of... These Include:
Annual Apple Harvest Festival (20 years)
Cairo Market Days (32 years)
Bears & Butterflies (3 years)
Clean Up Day ( 5 years)
Music Under The Stars ( 8 years)
Catskills Mountains Renaissance Faire ( 4 years)
Some of these events continue, some have been retired.. But the Chamber is always looking for new events to present to the Community.. and ways to continue to Promote and Support the Local Businesses.. That is, after all the main function of a Chamber.... Faces have changed over the years , but the goal of the Chamber is still the same. We cannot do it without your help.. Please visit the "contact us" page on this site, and let us know what we can do as your Chamber of Commerce.
